    OVERVIEW

    The role of Youth Care Specialist/Worker involves offering counseling, initial case management, and daily supervision of children. Effective communication is essential for this position, as the specialist reports to the Lead Youth Care Specialist.

    ESSENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Conduct program orientation for youth upon arrival and complete intake procedures;
    2. Address basic needs of youth, such as meal preparation, clothing, and hygiene;
    3. Supervise shelter supplies, allowances, and outings;
    4. Ensure compliance with state and federal supervision requirements for youth;
    5. Organize educational and recreational activities for youth, both on and off-site;
    6. Provide therapeutic care and crisis intervention when needed;
    7. Manage youth behavior and document accordingly;
    8. Establish positive connections with youth and lead by example to create a nurturing environment;
    9. Complete all necessary forms and progress notes to meet regulations;
    10. Assist in coordinating Physical Education activities as required;
    11. Model appropriate behavior and promote cultural sensitivity;
    12. Maintain shelter in accordance with safety standards and report maintenance needs;
    13. Transport residents to appointments and activities;
    14. Attend case conferences and team meetings;
    All duties are essential and subject to accommodation. Other job-related tasks may be assigned as needed.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    1. High school diploma or GED with at least one year of child welfare employment experience;
    2. Respect for children and families of diverse backgrounds;
    3. Proficiency in counseling techniques;
    4. Fluency in English, Spanish, and/or Haitian Creole;
    5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
    6. Strong time management and attention to detail;
    7. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;
    8. Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and clear background checks;
    9. CPR and first aid certification;
    10. Support for trauma-informed care and learning environment;
    11. Ability to work under pressure and collaborate with others;
    12. Evaluation and decision-making skills;
    13. Adherence to USCRI values and workplace diversity;
    14. Overnight work schedule from 11pm to 7am.
    TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
    1. Completion of USCRI's Orientation and Training;
    2. Annual mandatory training;
    3. Additional training as directed by supervisors or HR.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    1. Manual dexterity and sensory acuity;
    2. Repetitive motion, prolonged sitting and standing;
    3. Lifting, bending, and carrying;
    4. Good command of English, Spanish, and/or Haitian Creole;
    5. Remaining composed under stress;
    6. Numerical and mathematical ability.
