- Collect medical history, triage patients, and document vitals.
- Update medication lists in the electronic health record.
- Respond promptly and effectively to assigned tasks.
- Administer injections as per physician's instructions (e.g. Hepatitis A&B, PPD, and flu vaccines).
- Promptly report any abnormal test results to the physician (e.g. lab findings).
- Maintain cleanliness in examination rooms.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to uphold patient privacy.
- Follow organizational policies and procedures.
- Undertake any other assigned duties.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is a must.
- Hold a valid Medical Assisting certification from a recognized body like CMA, CCMA, or RMA.
- Preferably possess a Medical Assisting Degree.
- Minimum one-year experience as a medical assistant in a healthcare setting or completion of a medical office externship.
- Proficiency in EKG, vital signs, venipuncture, capillary puncture, and administering injections.
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- Familiarity with healthcare procedures and medical office protocols.
- Specific knowledge of tasks related to family and geriatric medical practices.
- Understanding of information necessary to communicate with patients and their families.
- Competent in performing medical assistance tasks correctly.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy.
- Effective at sharing information with patients and families according to their education needs.
- Quickly grasp and retain patient care procedures.
- Portray a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Organize, prioritize, and complete assigned duties efficiently.
- Show empathy and compassion in all interactions.
