A Brief Overview
The manager position functions in a line position as manager of staff and patient care as well as administrative support and resource person for Surgery Center including Sterile Processing.
The incumbent's responsibilities primarily focus on managing the operational aspects of provision of services to patients, physicians, and staff.This position supports organizational service and standardsThe delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Education QualificationsBachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN). Preferred
Recent continuing education in related field with some management continuing education.
Experience Qualifications
5 years Experience in related clinical field in acute care facility. Required

Licenses and Certifications
Registered Nurse - KSBN Required
Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - ACLS Required within 90 days.
Additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations.
The department director will provide specific information and the timeframe in which such certification must be attained at time of hire/transfer.
What you will doDirects staff assessments of all patients.
Interacts with patients, families, physicians, staff and office staff to coordinate referrals and care of patients.
Develops, implements and evaluates center policies, goals and objectives. Participates in the development and monitoring of center budget.
Markets services of Surgery to referring physicians and clinics.
Participates in infection control, utilization review, case management, and quality assessment activities and analysis.
Demonstrates appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care, and department activities in accordance with Kansas State Nurse Practice Act.
Selects, schedules, assigns and evaluates staff, adjusting hours and shifts as necessary.Orients new staff and assures that training and education needs of staff are met.
Coordinates activities of the center to ensure patient care, staff relations and efficiency of the organization.
Interprets and enforces Surgery policies.
Participates in internal committees as assigned.
Directs preparation and maintenance of patients' medical records.
Orders or directs ordering of drugs, solutions, and equipment, and maintains records on narcotics.
Investigates and resolves complaints, or refers unusual problems to superior.
Demonstrates knowledge of the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act and follows the statutes and regulations therein.
