JOB SUMMARY

Empower young men, while incarcerated in the DOC, to expand their awareness of self, find purpose, and set realistic goals as they prepare to re-enter the community from incarceration as part of the Restorative Justice Program.

Work with participants to identify, create, and maintain healthy relationships/community connections.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Process intakes/assessment screenings which include the Pre, Post and 60/90day questionnaire
Facilitate weekly psychoeducational and supportive workshops using circle practice in the DOC
Work with participants individually to identify barriers to setting and achieving personal/professional goals and developing realistic strategies to achieving goals
Work with participants to identify barriers to healthy relationships and develop conflict resolution skills/action plans
Make community referrals to assist men in their reentry process
Work collaboratively with the DOC and DOC contracted programs to assist men in their identified goals
Participate in weekly team briefing meetings in the DOC and with the RJ team
Maintain accurate records

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational:

High School Diploma

Experience:

35 years in a related field

Skills:

Interpersonal skills

- group facilitation
- knowledge of program target groups
- awareness of client needs
- ability to effectively interview clients from diverse backgrounds to obtain facts and to recognize relevant case information
