Under the direct supervision of the Director of Arts, Wellness & Engagement (AWE) Program, the Activity Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the overall planning and execution of activity programming for older adults.

This position is responsible for program development, implementation, and tracking of older adult arts and wellness activities and technology programming.


  • Qualifications:
  • Experience working with older adults, groups, volunteers, and professional staff while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Strong cultural sensitivity and ability to work with a multicultural client base.
  • Experience in speaking in front of groups, providing presentations in an engaging manner.
  • Strong organizational skills for activity program implementation and facilitation.
  • Solid verbal, written, organizational, and outreach skills.
  • Strong computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Zoom as well as the use of Internet resources.
  • Solid understanding of and ability to utilize the most effective methods to teach older adults basic computer skills.
  • Ability to effectively and enthusiastically use virtual platforms (Zoom) to provide remote programming.
  • Strong customer service skills, and persona that is outgoing, friendly, and sensitive to the needs of older adults.
  • Valid and unrestricted California Driver's license and clean driving record and reliable transportation is required.
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel between work sites.
  • Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for activity program development, implementation, and oversight for a small senior multipurpose center.
  • Facilitate and schedule contracted activities staff to coordinate both inperson and virtual programming such as exercise classes, recreational classes, clubs, trips, educational lectures, arts & entertainment, special events, and other innovative programs,
  • Maintain a regular weekly and monthly schedule of classes and events.
  • Seek and secure special events each month.
  • Monitor member engagement with activities, identifying needs and responding with engaging programming.
  • Monitoring and updating the membership and client contact list.
  • Maintain positive working relations with contracted instructors, processing submitted invoices.
  • Prepare monthly statistical reports, tracking and monitoring activity data.
  • Identify and support volunteers to assist with activities programming and client engagement.
  • Establish good working relationships and collaborate with all agency departments including communications department to create and distribute promotional materials and program departments to engage older adult clients.
  • Provide community outreach and raise awareness of AWE programming as appropriate with local government and nonprofit agencies, media, networks, and other local partners.
  • Drive to client homes and engage them in technology programming options and provide technical assistance.
  • Travel to support programs and activities across JFSLA sites.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
