- Deliver and pick up materials to and from clients and vendors.
- Assist in the coordination of timely and accurate shipping documents and functions.
- Prepares all skids and cartons for scheduled shipment including labeling, skid or carton preparation, shipment record keeping, and transfer to carrier.
- Keeps the Dispatcher or Shipping Manager informed of status and progress of work and of unusual problems.
- Checks the accuracy of all shipping documents. Gathers and maintains all data and records relative to local deliveries and pick ups.
- Helps maintain shipping directories and guides.
- Ensures shipping counts match packing documents. Ensures proper labels and tickets have been applied before shipping.
- Assists in resolving any discrepancies.
- Reports any problems, potential problems, hazardous situations that may exist or any other pertinent information that may help the department improve efficiency and productivity.
- Maintains good security habits at dock doors.
- Assists in loading and unloading trucks when necessary.
- Operates forklift and truck as needed.
- Makes sure all work areas are kept clean, neat and orderly.
- Works overtime as needed.
- Performs other duties as requested.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a minimum of a class A license.
- Good judgment and decision-making ability are necessary.
- Strong communication skills.
- Previous knowledge of shipping operations.
- Ability to communicate/understand written as well as oral instructions.
- Basic math skills and knowledge of simple computer operations.
- Demonstrate positive safety attitude.
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to visually inspect all work for defects and distinguish colors.
- Frequent reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and stooping.
- Manual dexterity for repetitive work.
- Frequent walking and standing.
