    POSITION SUMMARY:


    The Eldercare Services Division Director, under the direction of the Assistant Executive Director, is responsible for providing leadership to the Sault Tribe Eldercare Services Division and ensuring the provision of quality services are met including Home Health Care, Transportation, Congregate and Home Delivered Meal Program, Elder Health Funds, Geriatric Programming, Elder Outreach Program and Recreation Planning.

    The position also serves as an administrative point of contact for the Elder Advisory Board and all Elder Subcommittees.

    Position will oversee financial and human resource management, divisional operations, development and management of division policies and procedures, and interdepartmental communications that best serve the tribal membership and organization.

    Responsible for all incoming grants, financial and reporting requirements and seeking additional sources of funding, including grant submissions.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Supervises assigned personnel, including scheduling, delegating assignments, providing training and direction, performing evaluations and administering disciplinary actions if needed.
    • Develops and writes responses to Tribal letters and white papers requests on various Elder topics, trends and funding.
    • Establishes long term goals and strategic plans to expand and enhance the quantity and quality of the Eldercare Service Programs.
    • Directs and supervises team members within the Division to develop a positive morale and team spirit while ensuring accountability for delegated responsibilities.
    • Develops, reviews and updates division policies and procedures.
    • Researches grant opportunities, directs grant writing and application submissions, grant administration processes and reporting.
    • Administers budgets for the Division including preparing budgets and budget modification requests; analyzing expenses; identifying and implementing cost efficiencies; and approving expenditures within signature authority.
    • Ensures the Division operates in compliance with all laws, regulations, policies and procedures of the Sault Tribe and all other funding sources.
    • Responsible for timely and accurate generation and submission of required reporting to the Tribal Board of Directors and Executive Office.
    • Responsible for promotion of Eldercare Service Programs and services to tribal membership.

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Travels to monthly Elder Advisory Board and all (9) Elder Subcommittee meetings throughout the Seven County Service area.
    • Assists subcommittees to develop procedures, collaborate with other tribal and local resources, and assists their efforts to fulfill their purpose according to approved Bylaws.
    • Travels to multiple meal sites and program sites on a regular basis to monitor services, ensure compliance with policies and customer service standards to elders.
    • Travels to regional and national meetings and trainings related to program services, funding sources, and policy issues.
    • All other job-related duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Position sedentary - primarily sitting/lifting of maximum of 50 pounds.

    Physical factors include frequent standing, sitting, use of hearing, smelling, near vision, midrange and field of vision, and typing; occasional walking, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 pounds, stooping, kneeling, reaching, manual handling and use of far vision, depth perception and color vision, driving and bending.

    Working conditions include frequent air quality, inclement weather and occasional exposure to weather, extreme cold, wet/humid and noise.


    REQUIREMENTS:

    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Gerontology, Human Services or related field required.

    Experience:

    Minimum of eight years of experience working with non-profit organization or governmental agency programs serving tribal communities and/or aging populations required in addition to above stated education requirement.


    Certification/License:
    SERV Safe Certificate required within 6 months of hire, training will be provided. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver's license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Will be required to undergo and successfully pass background check. Must maintain good moral character standing. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Knowledge of Anishinabek culture and values required. Knowledge of the mission, organizational plan, funding sources, laws, regulations and requirements of the division required. Knowledge of the market sector and demographics relevant to the division required. Knowledge of research techniques and applicable sources, advanced problem solving and analytical skills required. Must have strong supervisory, leadership, management, team building, and interpersonal skills. Must have knowledge of personnel policies and ability to implement. Must have excellent organizational skills; organizing work, prioritizing tasks, and managing time, goal oriented and solution directed. Must have good project management skills, the ability to meet project deadlines. Knowledge of governmental accounting required. Must have financial management and budget preparation, modification and monitoring skills. Must have experience with developing financial projections, and formulating effective corrective measures to restore budget compliance. Knowledge of grant administration, documentation and reporting forms required. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent dispute resolution skills and ability to maintain self-discipline and objectivity. Must be capable of public speaking, conducting formal and informal meetings and conferences. Must be able to maintain tact and diplomacy under duress. Must be able to handle, resolve and direct multiple programs, issues and projects with composure. Willingness and ability to work in a changing dynamic environment required. Must maintain confidentiality. Native American preferred.
