    Duties

    As a Supervisory Health Scientist you will:

    Serve as Chief of the Response Analytics, Decision Support, and Surveillance Branch (RADSS).Direct and manage the operations of the Branch with primary responsibility for providing leadership and guidance to Branch staff.

    Lead branch staff in providing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (and partners, as appropriate) reliable, comprehensive, and high-quality information (e.g., event-based surveillance) on national and international disease outbreaks and other health threats as they emerge and evolve.

    Develop and maintain relationships among a variety of national and international public health, medical, and environmental organizations, other government agencies, academic institutions, and state and local health departments.

    Perform the full range of supervisory duties and responsibilities for a staff composed of CDC employees.

    Requirements Conditions of EmploymentDue to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) process enhancement to use Shared Certificates throughout the Agency, some of the requirements below may differ:US Citizenship is required.

    Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see ).May be subject to a Background/Security Investigation.

    Security clearance level may differ from the position announced when certificates are shared.
    One-year probationary period may be required.
    This position may be subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
    Time in grade (TIG) must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
    Candidates must have demonstrated or shown the potential to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. A supervisory probationary period may be required.

    Basic Qualifications:

    Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree:

    major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.

    This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.


    Minimum Qualifications:


    To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: managing and maintaining public health emergency preparedness, readiness, and response information gathering, analysis, and sharing through knowledge management and scalable processes that support response decision making.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

    Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

    You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
    Education

    Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience.
