We are seeking a Billing & Compliance Specialistto help support the work we do.


Position Objective:


Under the direction of the Behavioral Health Director, the Clinical Billing and Compliance Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining individual client medical records and patient health information from intake to discharge.

This position will be required to monitor timely completion of authorizations, consents, annual forms, assessments, and working closely with intake coordinator and clinical treatment team.

The Clinical Billing and Compliance Support Specialist will also assist with department's electronic health record system to ensure staff have appropriate access and receive support as it pertains to records compliance.

Due to the nature of the position, this person will also be required to be flexible in work hours to ensure coverage at office, support clinical team with tasks that improve treatment, and support with grant reporting as it pertains to clinical records and data maintenance.


Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Support

Maintain client records: Review client records utilizing the Quality Assurance Tool; support Clinical Leads with the QA process by sending a list of records to review and manage completion of reviews; send monthly documents due report to clinical leads to ensure accuracy of client records; run monthly reports for Clinical lead review to ensure completion of documentation and accuracy of records

Complete medical record requests: Check digital fax system for request for requests, verify request and submit documentation as required in accordance with the Mental Health policies and procedures.

Interface with Statewide systems:Monitor facility certification in IMPACT; Batch Illinois required assessments to the state; manage access to MEDI system.

Protect the security of medical records: Manage employee access to EHR; review clinical documentation revision requests and make changes as reported in EHR.

  • Perform reception duties as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Billinig Support Specialist

Insurance Verification:Complete a monthly check for all client's insurance via the MEDI website and assist clinical treatment team to ensure client maintains proper insurance; Proactively support clinicians with helping clients regain coverage, if lost; maintain redetermination list and send to clinicians monthly.

Authorization Requests:Complete all authorization requests; maintain record of authorization in EHR, contact payers to rectify issues; report to Clinical Supervision team when client no longer has authorization; post alerts to EHR

Co-pays and Deductibles (for commercial pay clients)

  • Obtain deductible and copay information before each service rendered and document in EHR; inform client of financial obligations; create invoices and receipts; collect payment from clients

Claim Maintenance:Work with external billing contract team to research and resolve claim issues; remedy claim errors in EHR.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in health/behavioral health related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience as a billing specialist required
  • Strong office management skills; 1+ years providing support in office atmosphere
  • Minimum one year of experience working in a professional office setting (preferably in a medical setting).
  • Minimum of one year experience in the health/behavioral health field.
  • Experience with general office software (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office, and Excel).
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Phone etiquette and confidence is required.
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and targets
  • Ability to perform tasks with precision and timeliness independently.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of medical termin
