    Senior Security Engineer

We are looking for a senior individual with technical depth along with the expertise to optimize our alerting infrastructure and mentor team members in security incident response. You will need to be someone trusted to serve as incident commander in partnership with other SMEs and engineering leaders.

    What You'll Do

    • Develop use cases for generating high-quality alerts and fine-tune the SIEM system to filter out irrelevant or noisy information
    • Implement, support and maintain security systems and tools that will help our Detection and Response Program
    • Triage security events initiated from tools and serve as a SME for tooling platforms during incidents
    • Research security tools to determine the best solutions for the organization
    • Develop and uphold documentation for Incident Response Playbooks and Security Tooling processes
    • Participate in an on-call rotation

    Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

    What We're Looking For

    Basic Qualifications:

    • A minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's Degree; or 6 years with a Master's Degree; or a Ph.D with 3 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
    • Experience using Splunk; developing, maintaining, and tuning Splunk content (detections, dashboards, alerts, etc.)
    • Experience managing and configuring endpoint Security solutions, including Crowdstrike (as well as other EDR and AV solutions)
    • Experience managing security in cloud platforms (ex: cloud security policy management)
    • Experience leading security incidents of all levels
    • Familiarity with security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK
    • Familiarity with Linux Operating Systems

    We'll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:

    • Experience with threat hunting
    • Experience with forensics

    Salary

    The estimated salary range for this position is $155,370 to $194,210.

    Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

    This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus programs.
