Assistant Director of Compliance - Houston, United States - Rice University
Description
The Assistant Director of Compliance will assist with the daily operations of the Office of Compliance Services and will help ensure that Rice University Athletics Department's 16 varsity sports are in compliance with NCAA, American Athletic Conference and institutional regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1 or more (1+) year of related experience, which can include experience gained as a student.
Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Willingness to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds and promote an inclusive work environment.
Preferences
- Master's or law degree preferred.
- 3 or more years of related experience, which can include experience gained as a student.
- Experience navigating NCAA systems, such as LSDBi, RSRO and the Eligibility Center
- Experience using student University systems.
- Working knowledge of ARMS compliance software
Essential Functions
- Responsible for monitoring daily practice activities of all programs.
- Responsible for the monitoring studentathlete recruiting for all on campus visits.
- Oversees ticketing for all game day visits for prospective studentathletes.
- Manages and cultivates interest in the program through camps, donor relations, alumni, lettermen, and player parent communication.
- Assist in education Athletics Staff members on NCAA legislation, American Conference and Rice University policies.
- Responsible for the creation and monitoring completion of beginning of year forms on ARMS.
- Will manage the internal interpretation tracker for the department.
- Assist in the submission of NCAA and conference violations, waivers and reports.
- Will work closely with the Sr. Associate Athletics Director/Compliance & Administration in the structure and oversight of the compliance department.
- Will provide rule interpretations and education for coaches and staff, coordinating department use of ARMS compliance software and providing game day support for various sporting events.
- Completes special projects as assigned
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
