    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The primary therapist provides comprehensive treatments in collaboration with a multidisciplinary clinical team at a 24-bed detox and residential and 28 bed PHP, IOP, AND OP addiction treatment center in West Palm Beach, Florida. As a contributing member to the primary care team, the primary therapist works closely with the clinical director, medical staff, BHT's, and other psychotherapists to help manage a broad range of chronic and acute substance abuse, mental health, and medical conditions.

    I. INTERRELATIONSHIPS

    Addiction Recovery Institute of America, LLC open door policy allows for the interrelations of all staff members. The primary therapist must interact with all clients and staff to ensure all services are readily available to clients and consistently maintain a clean safe and therapeutic environment for our clients and employees.

    II. POSITION PURPOSE

    The Therapist works with clients to assist them dealing with mental, emotional and physical issues, create specific therapies and exercises for the individual, and develop plans for ongoing care to improve their lives. This role also requires someone who enjoys working closely with people—not just with clients, but also other members of our team and occasionally outside agencies.

    IV. SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

    1. Provides clinical services including individual, group, and family therapy, crisis intervention services, primary process groups, psychoeducation presentations, and experiential learning groups for clients and families.
    2. Establish positive, therapeutic, supportive and trusting relationships with clients.
    3. Provides psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and clinical discharge summaries.
    4. Develops a comprehensive problem list that reflects client's individual issues as described in the assessments and Integrated Summary.
    5. Participates in continuing education and training to facilitate best scientific practices.
    6. Complete all paperwork and documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Update and maintain adequate notes about client visits in EMR system (Sunwave).
    7. Maintain clinical records according to program policies and those of licensing and accrediting agencies.
    8. Participates in required rotational on-call schedule for after hours and weekends.
    9. Implement various treatments and protocols to provide guidance and appropriately address client situations.
    10. Responds to crisis with appropriate de-escalation techniques an communicates with other team members as needed.
    11. Continually assess client situations and provide the proper ongoing treatments
    12. Educate and involve family members or other loved ones in the treatment process when necessary
    13. When required, refer clients to outside sources or agencies that can better address their specific needs. There should be a collaborative effort between Clinical, Admissions and Development to place referrals in order to help build outside relationships.
    14. Maintain the strictest confidentiality of each client situation.
    15. Perform other duties as assigned

    XII. POSITION CATEGORY UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS

    Routine tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. All procedures or other job-related tasks involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues or a potential for spills or splashes of fluids present a potential risk for exposure.

    Direct supervision is provided by the Clinical Director.

    XVII. PERFORMANCE/ PROFICIENCY STANDARDS

    Performance standards are integrated within the position responsibilities. The principle functions of the position identified shall not be considered a complete description of all the work requirements and expectations that may be inherent in the position.

    XVIII. INITIAL TRAINING

    A. Within the first six (6) months of employment, it is mandated that this employee must complete the following training:

    9. IRAS (Incident Reporting Analysis System)

    B. The following certifications are required within one (1) year of employment and annually thereafter:

    1. DCF Online HIPAA Training
    2. DCF Online Data Security
    3. DCF Deaf/Hard of Hearing
    4. Detox Protocols (as needed...updates available immediately)
    5. Incident Reporting
    6. Reporting Abuse: Affirmative duty requirements and protections of Chapter 415, F.S.
    7. Affirmative duty requirements of Title V of the ADA
    8. Infection Prevention and Control: Prevention Strategies
    9. Cultural Diversity and Sensitivity
    10. Aggression Control
    11. Trauma, Exploitation, Neglect and Abuse
    12. Relapse Prevention
    13. Domestic Violence
    14. Substance Abuse with Co-Occurring Disorders for Adults

    C. The following certifications are required every 2-years

    III. POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

    A. EDUCATION

    1. Master's degree in Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or related human services field or Bachelor degree in the human services filed.
    2. Additional licensure is required such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Registered Intern Status.
    3. Accepted but not preferred are MCAP, CAP, CAC.

    B. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

    1. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in mental health and addiction treatment, detox experience preferred.
    2. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to actively listen, and written and verbal communication skills.
    3. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of diverse cultures and gender-specific issues and ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into practice settings.
    4. Experience using a variety of interventions including Motivational interviewing, DBT, CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Family Systems.
    5. Solid relationship building capabilities.
    6. Positive, energetic, and compassionate attitude.
    7. Keen attention to detail.
    8. Excellent organization skills including the ability to effectively manage work load and prioritize needs and work independently.
    9. Willingness to stay updated on new treatments, protocols, and licensure requirements within the field.
    10. Passion for advancing the therapy field.
    11. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

    C. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

    1. LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT-maintain active licenses
    2. CAP or CAC-maintain active licenses and seek higher licensing or credential when encouraged.

    V. GENERAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

    This position requires reasoning and language skills at the high school graduate level. Position requires working knowledge and use of Microsoft Word and Excel (limited use).

    VI. AGE SPECIFIC INDIVIDUALS SERVED RESPONSIBILITY

    The clients of Addiction Recovery Institute of America, LLC are adults over the age of 18 with substance abuse and other obsessive compulsive and psychiatric disorders.

    VII. WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT

    Offices with access to computer, printer, copy machine, fax machine, scanner, telephone, supervisor, and management for consultation purposes; ergonomically correct seating.

    VIII. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

    This position requires work in a temperature-controlled environment. Approximately 100% of time is spent indoors in temperatures of approximately 72-78 degrees. Outside activities may expose employees to temperatures in excess of 96 degree with high humidity. There is a potential exposure to violent situations, airborne and blood borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.

    IX. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    This position involves standing, walking, bending, crouching, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, reading, reaching, stair climbing, air flight and driving. The percentage of time utilizing each physical demand varies according to the individual's role in the continuum of care. Moderate lifting/lowering in the range of 10 to 20 pounds may also be required during employment.

    X. MENTAL DEMANDS

    This position requires extensive work with other individuals. Additionally, the position may create a high level of mental stress although this is not the intent. You are expected to consistently take care of yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually in order to perform this function.

    XI. MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED

    Office 365, Word, Excel, EMR System-Sunwave, fax machine, telephone system, calculator, copy machine, printer, scanner, company vehicles.
