The Plant Company (TPC) is a newly established business currently entering into its Phase 2 production facility. Phase 2 encompasses a 10-acre greenhouse facility along with a 1.5-acre production barn.

This is a state-of-the-art, controlled environment greenhouse for the sustainable production of tropical indoor foliage plants of consistent and exceptional quality.

JOB SUMMARY


The Greenhouse Grower Helper will carry out daily tasks of growing processes and addressing crop needs at the direction of team leaders and management.

Assist Greenhouse Grower in finishing crops on time, in the correct quantities, and according to internal harvest specifications.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide daily care to greenhouse and nursery plants including planting, transplanting, pruning, watering, weeding, fertilizing, controlling insects and disease, and administering pesticides.
  • Inspect plant material for disease, insect problems, and mechanical damage, and assist with ventilating propagation tents.
  • Prepare proper soil mixes and pesticide mixes as designated by the supervisor or project leader.
  • Pull those pesky weeds out of pots when they pop up.
  • Irrigate when the plants tell us they are thirsty and feed them when they are hungry.
  • Look for damaging insects and then release good bugs to run them out of our greenhouse.
  • Make warm little tents for our young plants coming in to make sure they have the best place to grow. When they are fully rooted youngsters, remove the plastic and nurture them into spectacular plants ready for the world.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:


  • Ability to wear chemical handling PPE and work in a warm and humid environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to adapt/respond to various personalities.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a highpaced work environment.
  • Desire to work and thrive in a fastpaced, everchanging environment.
  • Passion for work and a love of people.
  • A love of houseplants and/or desire to learn more about them.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent,
  • Associate degree in Greenhouse, Horticulture, Botany, or related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of relevant job experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Must be able to bend, twist, turn, climb, pull, lift, and carry up to 55 pounds frequently throughout the workday.
