Background

Located in Chicago's northwest suburbs and established on January 17, 2017, Viator House of Hospitality (VHH) provides compassionate accompaniment to young adult male immigrants seeking asylum.

VHH is very rare in its long-term, comprehensive program for young asylum-seekers, and as such, its participants are referred through lawyers, advocates, and organizations across the U.S.

VHH provides a supportive living environment where these young men can attend school, learn English, grow spiritually and emotionally, receive medical attention, and work while they await court proceedings that determine whether they can become U.S.

citizens.

Men can remain at VHH until they can move into their own apartments or reunite with family safely and successfully.

Since its founding in 2017, Viator House of Hospitality has provided a home to 114 young men from 27 nations.

Viator House partners with 23 Muslim, Christian, and Jewish faith communities.

Dozens of volunteers spend more than 400 hours a month supporting Viator House, with more than 600 donors offering financial support.

The organization is located in Des Plaines, Illinois.

The development director (DD) reports to the executive director and successfully develops and leads VHH's fundraising and donor management strategy, including grants, major gifts, annual appeals, community partnerships, social media, events, and online activities.

The DD will build, cultivate, and steward strong relationships with donors, staff, and volunteers, as well as manage day-to-day development operations (including maximizing the use of the existing Donor Perfect CRM system).

As a growing organization, VHH needs someone nimble and willing to pitch in.

This role is collaborative, and the person in it will work across teams to secure and grow the revenue necessary for the organization to meet its strategic and organizational goals.

The DD will serve as a fundraising generalist, focusing primarily on increasing grants and individual giving while also leading events, mailed and digital appeal campaigns, and monthly giving in support of that growth.

The DD will ensure social media, communications and community partner engagement are strategic, in sync with VHH priorities/brand, and support increased reach and engagement.

The DD will lead the existing grant writing, event, and community partnership committees and staff the development committee of the board of trustees.

VHH is fortunate to have recruited highly engaged and qualified volunteers to work on these committees. The DD will provide guidance and logístical support and attend meetings of these committees.

VHH strongly believes in the development of its people. This position will have an annual professional development budget to develop skills and secure additional fundraising credentials.
