As the Technical Training Lead for the On-Site Services Business Unit, the successful incumbent will assist with identifying, developing, and delivering the curriculum for the field group.

The incumbent must be self-motivated with a positive attitude to help develop the skills and knowledge of the workforce. This position will support the training and development goals of the organization as well as continuous improvement projects.


Essential Functions:


  • Assist in the design, develop, and implementation of learning strategies that include approaches/solution to address specific functional/technical skills and development needs.
  • Support Onsite Services Supervisors and Operational leaders by delivering training to front line team members.
  • Leads training courses for supervisors and hourly employees in all aspects, technical skills, NDT, compliance, billing, etc.
  • Determine knowledge or skill gaps, and assist identifying individual needs and solutions.
  • Produce training videos, filming and editing to final product.
  • Collect, analyze, and process data to initiate, develop and recommend business practices and procedures that focus on enhanced safety, increased productivity, and reduced cost.
  • Assist in the creation of and lead "train the trainer" initiatives.
  • Assist Corporate Training personnel with identifying and correcting issues within training system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent technical writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Create and manage a training schedule for all NAFS Regions.
  • Knowledge of adult learning methodologies.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Teams.
  • Strong understanding of Lean/Continuous Improvement concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Up to 70% travel required.

Education / Experience / Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 57 years' experience preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Railcar repair, railroad industry, equipment leasing, transportation or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Hold certifications, or be able to attain, in ABT, DI, LT, VS1, VS2, etc.
  • Experience in Process Excellence/Continuous Improvement methods.
  • Experience in training others in a technical environment.
