SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Microbiologist to join our team in Bowleys Quarters, MD.

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting biological analysis of drinking water, food, bottled water, insect vectors, and surveillance samples for bacteriological, viral, and rickettsia contamination.

This position is with the Public Health Command Europe (PHCE) in Landstuhl, Germany.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a degree from an accredited university in Microbiology or a related science field.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Minimum of five years of experience in a laboratory setting.
Experience with food analysis using standard biological methods.
Knowledge of nucleic acid extraction and PCR analysis.
Familiarity with public health policies and regulations.
Ability to identify potential hazards and troubleshoot methods during sample analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review relevant guidelines, regulations, and customer requirements to determine appropriate methods for analyzing samples.
Conduct analyses using techniques such as classical microbiology, nucleic acid extraction and PCR, nextgeneration genome sequencing, ELISA, and other rapid microbiological and molecular techniques.
Make recommendations for method modifications and assist in training new analysts.
Review and report data using electronic laboratory
