Description

Summary

This role as a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (BESS) is part of the Clinical Engineering Service at VA Maine Healthcare System based in Togus. It's a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week.

This ongoing announcement creates a list of eligible applicants that closes on 1/5/24. The first review of applications will be on 11/10/23 with subsequent reviews every 8 days as more positions become available.

Duties

The BESS provides clinical and administrative support for the lifecycle management of medical equipment across the facility. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Lifecycle management of medical systems like imaging, life support, dialysis, and monitoring.
Collaboration with other support departments including Facilities Management Service (FMS), Office of Information Technology (OIT), Patient Safety, and more.
Adherence to safety codes and standards set by regulatory bodies.
Recording all work in the maintenance management system.
Resolving medical system communication issues.
Acting as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
Coordinating procurement of parts and services with Logistics and Contracting.
Addressing Repairable Medical Device (RMD) recalls and safety alerts.
Staying updated on medical technology advancements and providing training to end users.
Offering mentoring and technical training to peers and those at lower levels.

Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm
