Human Rights Watch is seeking a Recruitment Officer to join our dynamic Global Human Resources team.

The Recruitment Officer will facilitate and strengthen our global talent acquisition program, with a focus on recruitment for our operations, media and fundraising teams.

This position will preferably be based in New York or Washington, DC but locations in a similar time zone may be considered.

The Recruitment Officer reports to the Senior Associate Director of Recruiting, Onboarding and Special Projects based in New York, and works closely with the Recruitment Officer for our programmatic and advocacy teams based in Washington, D.C.


Responsibilities:


  • Work with the Senior Associate Director and the Recruitment Officer for program and advocacy to facilitate the acquisition of all global staff;
  • Help craft job descriptions and post for vacancies; ensure descriptions accurately represent the role and ensure responsibilities are in line with job function;
  • Guide managers and hiring teams through the recruitment process, including by conducting check-ins and advising on outreach strategy and interview processes;
  • Support and guide managers to effectively onboard and integrate new colleagues;
  • Liaise with staff on the HR team, within Operations, and across the organization to effectively coordinate pre-hire activities;
  • Help maintain the applicant tracking system;
  • Train staff on recruitment processes and systems;
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, as well as organization policies; and
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:


Education:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.


Experience:
Minimum three years of relevant experience, preferably in non-profit or international recruiting.


Related Skills and Knowledge:


  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with all levels of staff within the organization are required.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented and ability to execute projects with mínimal guidance are required.
  • Solid judgment, discretion, and critical thinking skills are required. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to think proactively and holistically are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required; proficiency in another language is desirable.
  • Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems is required; experience with Greenhouse is a plus.
  • Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals with diverse identities, cultures, backgrounds, skillsets, and orientations are required.
  • Commitment to HRW's mission and human rights values is required.
  • Knowledge of operations, media and fundraising roles is desirable.

Salary and Benefits:
HRW seeks exceptional applicants and offers comprehensive compensation and benefits. If based in the United States, the salary range would be USD 62,000- 66,000. Salary ranges outside of the United States vary based on location.
