Canyon Contracting, Inc. is the leader in CIP Concrete Construction in the DC-Baltimore region, specializing in structural concrete work on schools, hospitals, parking garages, and more. We are a growing company looking to add vital personnel as we continue our pattern of growth in the coming years. We are urgently seeking Chief Concrete Engineer Technician who has in-depth knowledge of Trimble Robtics Total Station or similar systems. Must be experience using CAD and any other Concrete Layout software.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Survey Engineer is responsible for the layout of multiple projects according to the Scope of Work, any RFIs/ASIs and surveyor's control. This position will work closely with the Job Superintendent, Foreman and Project Manager and will provide required concrete work layouts. The engineer's responsibilities include serving as technical support for Engineers in the field, troubleshooting problems with drawings, defining problems, researching, interpreting, and applying information, developing solutions, and making decisions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ("Incidental" job duties may be included but

• Accurately overlays project drawings received from Project Management to AutoCAD.
• Responsible to import the drawings into Magnet Field and upload the finished drawings to Trimble.
• Serves as the SME for Trimble Robotic Total Station
• Resolve and clarify design issues. Make necessary adjustments and update Trimble.
• Responsible to follow the directions of the Job Superintendent/Foreman for project plans and specifications when in the field.
• Continually review all shop drawings and RFIs/ASIs through the entire project to make design layout adjustments or additions in a timely manner to avoid delay in project.
• Must use Surveyor's control to determine Canyon's control lines for the job site.
• Must review the benchmarks/elevations provided by the surveyor and determine Canyon's control/elevation for job site.
• Coordinate with Job Superintendent/Foreman and Carpenters when providing layout for the project.
  • Provide layout for anchor bolts
  • Identify and layout location of Embeds
  • Layout of Templates for Rebar, walls, and Cols/beams
• Must establish as-built drawings and note any changes for anchor bolts/ col. lines and/or elevations on the drawings. Communicate changes to the Foreman/ Job Superintendent.
• Responsible to always be checking and verifying plans and specifications for constructability, efficiency, and safety.
• Responsible to handle instruments provided by Canyon in a safe and professional way so Canyon's equipment is not damaged.
• Build professional skill through continued training, education, and networking events.
• Build and develop trusting relationships with current customers and seek to identify opportunities to grow our customer base and build positive relationships.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE (Include necessary licenses and specialized training.)

• 5+ yrs prior concrete engineering experience.
• 3+yrs. Experience using Auto Cad and other Concrete drawing software.
• Demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints and understand RFIs/ASIs
• Demonstrated experience in Magnet Field and AutoCAD required
• AutoCAD Certified a plus
• Experience effectively operating Trimble Robotic Station a plus
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Bilingual is a plus.
• OSHA 30 Certification preferred
• CPR Certificate preferred
