JOBSUMMARY
Coordinates, provides oversight, and direction of the quality inspection activities. Collaborates with Quality Engineers on inspection and containment plans. Advises Quality Engineers and leadership of opportunities to elevate the performance of the team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Integral in developing and deploying inspection activities within Quality
- Works closely with other departments such as Materials to ensure containment activities are robust and discrepancies are resolved to reduce/prevent recurrences.
- Trains and further develop the Quality staff, providing guidance and support as needed
- Ensures nonconformances and opportunities are properly documented and elevated when necessary for resolution.
- Identifies, tracks and reacts to metrics on the departments performance
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Medium to heavy physical effort required. The ability to lift up to 30 pounds repeatedly.
- Regularly required to stand, reach, bend, pull and move about the facility.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
REQUIRED:
- Driver's license required (travel between local manufacturing locations in Rockford)
- Previous mechanical inspection background with proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
- GD&T interpretation and general print reading skills.
- Ability to create and maintain accurate documentation.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices examples:
- Sampling plans and concepts (C=0)
- Control charts (completion and analysis)
- Measurement system discrimination (rule of 10)
- Must be an organized, diligent leader, and able to work in a fastpaced, team environment.
- Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excell, Power Point)
PREFERRED:
- ASQ certified Quality Inspector or similar achievement
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards
- Five or more years prior experience in quality inspection, preferably in an assembly or fabrication environment.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts, E.G. PDCA, Waste, etc.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Intermediate reading and math skills _(report writing, algebraic and geometrical calculations)_.
