Minimum Qualifications:


High school diploma or GED; four years of experience in fuel site preventive maintenance and small repair, including one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

DEQ compliance training is preferred. Experience related to the commissioning, decommissioning, and document processing of county-owned vehicles, school buses, and equipment. Ability to multitask within the scope of work. Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or be able to obtain one within nine months of employment.


Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.

Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Duties:


  • Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Fleet Manager.
  • Monitors and maintains proper operations at each countyowned fuel site. Performs regular inspection, cleaning, and preventive maintenance to ensure that all countyowned fuel sites are fully operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and that they are in compliance with prevailing DEQ regulations.
  • Monitors all fuel deliveries at fuel site locations; works with the Program Analyst and Business Manager to ensure that the contracted vendor is following all safety regulations and adhering to performance expectations.
  • Coordinates and assists with the proper processing, documentation, and reporting of commissioned and decommissioned countyowned vehicles and equipment.
  • Coordinates and assists the supervisory staff regarding supplying and maintaining the vehicle wash bays.
  • Coordinate with Fleet Services administration and Risk Management representative(s) in the proper decommissioning of totaled vehicles.
