    Job Description

    Provide Financial Administrative support for the Clinical Research Unit of the ACC from study initiation through study closure. These studies may include Industry sponsored Trials, Grants, Investigator-Initiated and Cooperative Group Trials.

    Review study protocols and grants, develop and negotiate the initial study budget with the sponsor, as well as any Amendments.

    Must have a strong knowledge base in budget development. Develop internal budgets and process through the School of Medicine in a timely manner. Work with legal to finalize budget and contract.

    Work with the Billing Compliance Office to ensure appropriate designation of procedures and standard of care or research and assist with their inquiries and Billing Compliance as needed.

    Work with the financial office to invoice sponsors and to develop financial reports. Prepare any necessary regulatory documentation


    DUTIES:
    The Clinical Trials, Billing, Budget and Compliance Specialist will report directly to the Senior Finance Manager.

    In this role, the position will support the Manager in his/her duties in providing support for the successful financial management of clinical trials billings to appropriate sponsors.

    The specialist will have responsibilities to assist with the development of budgets and assist with budget negotiation.

    This includes the association of study milestones to study budget calendars, and the review of clinical research budgets and charges to confirm accuracy and identify any inappropriate billings.

    The specialist will assist the manager in the training and implementation of best practices as it relates to study cost and financial management for clinical research trials.

    Clinical Trials, Billing, Budget and Compliance Specialist will also work with faculty and staff to provide pre and post award support.


    QUALIFICATIONS:


    Bachelor's degree required with 3-5 years' experience of clinical financial or financial research experience in an academic health center, pharmaceutical company or contract research organization or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Training in University Ben Financials and PENNERA preferred; strong verbal and written communication skills required. Knowledge of and demonstrated competency with information systems, including word processing, spreadsheets.

    Strong knowledge of and demonstrated competency with compliance issues related to the management of both federal and non-federal sponsored research.

    Ideal candidate would have direct experience with study cost budgets, CPT terminology and development of protocols. Candidate must have good communication skills and be adept at learning multiple IT systems.
