- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing sterile compounding, including USP <797> and <800>, FDA guidelines, and Texas Board of Pharmacy requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure the safety, efficacy, and sterility of compounded medications. This includes monitoring environmental controls, equipment calibration, and personnel training.
- Compounding Operations: Oversee all aspects of sterile compounding operations, including formulation, preparation, packaging, and labeling of medications. Ensure accuracy and precision in compounding practices.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of compounding ingredients, supplies, and finished products to ensure uninterrupted operations while minimizing waste and maintaining cost-effectiveness.
- Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise pharmacy staff, including compounding technicians and support personnel. Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Patient Care: Provide exceptional customer service and clinical support to patients and healthcare providers. Collaborate with prescribers to optimize medication therapy and ensure patient safety.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain comprehensive records of compounding activities, including batch records, sterility testing results, and quality control documentation. Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about developments in sterile compounding regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements. Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality outcomes.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current pharmacist licensure in good standing in the state of Texas and a minimum of 15 additional active state licenses.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sterile compounding, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Thorough understanding of USP <797> and <800> standards for sterile compounding.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to strict aseptic technique.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience with regulatory inspections and audits is desirable.
