BASIC DUTIES:
Plan, coordinate, and participate in outdoor activities and trips that engage and enrich youth and multi-generational families.

Increase youths' knowledge and awareness of ecosystems, environmental protection, and self-discovery, while creating opportunities for youth leadership and overseeing staff and volunteers.


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

DIRECT DUTIES

  • Recruit youth, families, and volunteers to participate in outdoor nature trips
  • Collaborate with community partners
  • Create and maintain a monthly activities/trips calendar, Trip Itineraries and other documents as needed.
  • Prepare youth for outdoor nature trips by conducting educational activities at the dropin center and within the community
  • Plan, implement, and oversee yearround outdoor nature trips (such as rock climbing, snowboarding, day hikes, backpacking and camping, whitewater rafting)
  • Increase youth access to internships and career opportunities related to nature and the outdoors
  • Record and report activities, trips, participant outcomes, successes, and challenges
  • Positively promote the agency in the community
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Basic understanding of and interest in outdoor activities, nature, flora and fauna, waste reduction, resource conservation, and the impact humans have on the environment
  • Ability to participate in strenuous outdoor activities while supervising youth, families, staff, and volunteers
  • Certification in rock climbing and firstaid (will provide)
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a focus on outcomes and positive youth development
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Have a valid California driver's license and vehicle with valid registration and insurance, have a good driving record, and willingness to transport youth and families
  • Have received at least the first dose of the Covid19 vaccination at time of onboarding

Pay:
$ $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
