Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation.

Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines:
Reliability System Safety and Supportability.


Job Summary:


Life Cycle Engineering is seeking a
Section Lead to add to our existing team In this role, you will lead a team responsible for the execution and deployment of the Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RAM) and Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) disciplines within the Radars, Sensors and Ground Platforms area.

**This position is based at either Raytheon's Andover MA or Tewksbury, MA facility.


What You'll Do:

As a
Section Lead you will be responsible for leading up to approximately 20 team members in various facets of RAM/FRACAS engineering including the following:

  • Ensuring that best practice RAM & FRACAS engineering processes are followed
  • Providing robust oversight to ensure products are developed in accordance with program requirements
  • Performing continuous process improvement to grow the capabilities and productivity of the organization
  • Monitoring performance of team members responsible for solutions across systems and programs


In addition, as a
Section Lead you'll manage budgeting, manpower planning and project cost account management using Earned Value Management System (EVMS), cost proposal development and Estimate At Completion (EAC) analysis.


Additional responsibilities will include the following employee-focused areas:

  • Employee performance development and assessment
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of work products produced within the section
  • Employee growth, productivity improvement, and recognition
  • Personnel issue resolution
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies/procedures
  • Ensuring all personnel are properly prepared and trained for the scope of their tasks and leveraging best practices across all programs

Approximately 5% travel is required.

Qualifications You Must Have:


  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position
  • Experience with RAM Engineering, Failure Analysis or Quality Assurance
  • Experience managing budgets and / or using the Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:


  • Experience in the following technical areas:
  • Assessing RAM performance (MTBF, MTBCF, Ao)
  • Conducting data analysis and trending
  • Defining / allocating RAM requirements
  • Performing Reliability Predictions
  • Performing Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • ISO 9000
  • Leading FRACAS Review Boards (FRBs) and Failure Investigations
  • Support the Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) Process
  • Performing RAM tradeoff analyses
  • Assessing RAM performance of fielded equipment.
  • Support Reliability Test Planning and Execution (Accelerated, Growth, Demonstration)
  • Proposal development in the areas of Reliability Engineering. Performed as technical lead for a contract capture using the IPDS process cumulating in a Gate 4 proposal through LCE management, Business Area approval and/or customer negotiation.
  • Certification in the area of Reliability, Availability and Maintainability.
  • Master of Science in Engineering Degree
  • Strong communication skills; Ability to present to diverse audiences and ability & desire to lead large teams.
  • Active Secret Clearance
