Job Summary:


Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Engagement and Community Outreach, the incumbent will support the Badger Built units, impacting the development of 800 student-athletes within a comprehensive NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletic Program.

This 11-month full-time fellowship provides a profound immersion into student-athlete personal development, offering individuals passionate about professional and collegiate sports an invaluable experience.

The fellowship aims to cultivate future leaders and talent ready to help student-athletes win now and beyond.


This 11-month paid opportunity enables participants to work closely within two Badger Built units, contributing significantly to the success of Wisconsin Athletics while integrating real-world experience.

Fellows will play a pivotal role in shaping the Badger Built student-athlete experience, encompassing peak performance, exploration, and community.

Responsibilities include active involvement in committees, execution of large-scale initiatives, and independent projects designed to prepare individuals for future career goals.


Work within the Badger Built units includes:

Academic & Career:

Provide support with student-athlete academic advising, learning support, and career development, encompassing activities such as course scheduling, major exploration, eligibility and progress monitoring, providing learning specialist support, fostering career readiness, recruiting, building academic skills, preparing for interviews, and organizing academic or career-related events.


Alumni Relations:
Assist in the collection and analysis of data for more than 12,000 former student-athletes.

This role will help make data-driven decisions to plan events, execute communication and social media campaigns, and leverage the Badger Connect app, which is our proprietary technology platform.

This is all done to help keep alums feeling connected, engaged, and appreciated.

Engagement & Community Outreach:
Champion connection and belonging with each other and in the community through shared experiences and events.

This includes coordinating community service through the Badgers Give Back program, situational support groups, parent engagement and organizing cross functional large-scale student-athlete and staff celebrations.


Leadership & Inclusion:
Create opportunities for students and staff to explore themselves and others through programming and shared experiences.

This role involves working with identity-specific community groups, facilitating leadership programs, and putting together large-scale events that create inclusive spaces and bring people together.


Student-Athlete Development:

Coordinate events and initiatives focusing on areas such as financial literacy, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), brand identity, healthy relationships, and transitions.

This role will also support implementation and tracking of important required trainings to promote the holistic development of student-athletes.

Badger Built Administration:
Support the administration of Badger Built through marketing, communication, project and office management.

This role provides insights into building and managing the Badger Built brand, both internally and externally through communication, event marketing, and administrative execution to ensure consistency and operational efficiency.


Responsibilities:

Coordinates one or more programs within the unit's scope of responsibility and coordinates all aspects of a project or program to promote student learning and development.

Assists with coordinating any activities and providing facilitation and developing curriculum design for ongoing and new educational initiatives.

  • 50% Assists with scheduling, logistics, securing resources, and facilitating one or multiple student affairs programs, activities, and/or services
  • 25% Assists with the design of studentfocused programming and associated resources and materials to promote new and ongoing educational initiatives
  • 20% Provides guidance on resources for individual students or internal stakeholder groups
  • 5% May assist with supervising and training student employees
