Work Year: 10 months


POSITION GOAL:


To create and sustain an educational environment conducive to the fulfillment of the District's Mission so that maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.

A teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering instruction based on the approved curriculum and Common Core State Standards to help students move towards academic proficiency.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

  • Must be eligible or hold State of Delaware Certification as an Drivers Education
and Traffic Safety Teacher

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Applicant's driving record shall have no more than five (5) points total from
  • A minimum of twenty-one (21) credits in a degree program
  • Bachelor's degree or Master degree
  • Student Teaching
  • Proficient in Technology, Microsoft Office Applications, Children's Educational
Software etc.

  • Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic and
socioeconomic groups.

  • Show evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in
promoting student learning while shows evidence of knowledge while
increasing student achievement

  • Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job related tasks.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the position
  • Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on Child Abuse Registry
in the State of Delaware.

  • Must be able to teach/serve students remotely and in person depending on the
needs of their students.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the District.

  • Delivers instruction based on the general education curriculum and Delaware
Common Core State Standards.

  • Develops and implements a classroom management system
  • Coordinates drivers education program
  • Develops weekly lesson plans that contains all of the required components
  • Instructs students (e.g. car control, manipulative skills, perceptive skills,
defensive driving strategies, handling emergency situations, driving in adverse
conditions, auto safety, etc.) for the purpose of developing driving skills and
knowledge pertaining to rules of the road.

  • Strives to install students attitudes and behavior conducive to safe, proper
operation of a motor vehicle.

  • Prepares and issues Department of Education Blue certificates to students
who successfully completed the course.

  • Oversees District Driver;s education automobiles (e.g. gasoline, safety conditions
etc.) for the purpose of ensuring district vehicle to be maintained in appropriate
order and compliant with established rules and regulations.

  • Schedules students for driving training for the purpose of providing appropriate
time schedule for drivers training.

  • Advise students of appropriate documentation for the purpose of obtaining
appropriate items to progress in the driver education program.

  • Explains and interprets the school's driver education program to school
Personnel, parents and the community at large as necessary
