    Description

    Job Details for Transport Engineer

    • 2 days a week (Tues/Thurs) in the office beginning June 17
    • Richardson is preferred, but manager will consider other areas with an experienced candidate

    Responsibilities for Transport Engineer

    • Timely creation and action on individual Capacity Creation Requests (CCRs) for US domestic network transport builds across ULH and OTN Mesh networks
    • Extensive logical knowledge of SONET and Long-Distance transport systems required
    • Good understanding of the transport network to effectively initiate and engineer network projects
    • Perform detailed equipment engineering for network augments
    • Ensure work meets applicable engineering, financial, planning, and operational standards
    • Develop Bill of Material and place orders for network equipment, rack, and hardware
    • Define cable requirements, create cable running lists, and order cables
    • Manage and update central Network Inventory Database
    • Understand dependencies like space, power, fiber, and diversity affecting planned projects
    • Identify and work with stakeholders to resolve issues and eliminate roadblocks
    • Flexibility with full-time schedule, including evenings, weekends, and being on-call
    • Participate in regular team meetings and conference calls
    • Ability to locally commute and attend off-site meetings (approx. 15% per month)

    Qualifications for Transport Engineer

    • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of work experience
    • Strong knowledge in functional area and telecommunications technology
    • Ability to learn, absorb, and eventually teach others
    • Natural ability to lead others when called upon
    • Strong organizational, time-management, self-starting, and deadline-meeting skills
    • Comfortable working in fast-paced, dynamic settings

    Skills for Transport Engineer

    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite
    • Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and communication skills
    • Ability to work with others, be flexible, and sensitive to deadlines and customer needs
    • Experience consolidating information from multiple tools/systems into a single database

    Added Benefit

    • Familiarity with Telecommunication systems like ICON, CCP, BGW, MECCA, NTLS, TCOMS or nSAP is a plus
