Part Time, up to 30 hours per week

$20-22/hour DOE

Arizona's first state park, the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park features a museum, three historic buildings, eight educational gardens, and a unique underground exhibit.

With both indoor and outdoor experiences, our park celebrates the vibrant multicultural history of Southern Arizona and the unique natural resources that we continue to rely on today.


The Friends of the Tubac Presidio and Museum, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit, manages the Tubac Presidio Historic State Park and Museum and all its operations on behalf of and in partnership with Arizona State Parks and Trails.


Position Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for building connections and developing relationships with our community both within and outside the Presidio.

The Coordinator will be responsible for developing new audiences through marketing and social media, strengthening ties with our existing audiences by overseeing the volunteer and membership programs, and building relationships with community partners.


This is a hybrid work position; while most of the key responsibilities must be completed onsite, some responsibilities can be completed through telecommuting.


Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers; manage volunteer information in Volgistics.
  • Engage volunteers through regular communications, meetings, and appreciation events.
  • Work in collaboration with the Visitor Experience Manager to ensure volunteer and staff coverage for critical park operations.
Community Engagement

  • In collaboration with the Director, develop and implement a plan for a revitalized membership program with offerings that are exciting and relevant to target audiences.
  • Plan and execute events to engage members and donors.
  • Coordinate with community partners to develop thoughtful, unique, and relevant programming for events.
Communications and Outreach

  • Research and attend community events to develop new audiences and build relationships in Southern Arizona.
  • In collaboration with the Director, develop strategic partnerships to encourage opportunities for cocreation in exhibits, programming, and other operations.
  • Oversee marketing communications, including newsletter content and social media strategy, in collaboration with the Director and marketing consultant.

Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of marketing principles and industry trends.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite products, including gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Meets.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoys working with people.
  • Must be selfmotivated and able to work independently under mínimal supervision.

  • Must have excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills in dealing with the public.
  • Graphic design aptitude is a plus.
  • Strong grammatical skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with active listening.

Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain stability under pressure and able to deal well with stressful situations.
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to modify plans, when necessary, throughout the day.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Experience:


  • 12 years of experience working in a frontline customer service position.
  • Experience working in marketing, communications, human resources, or a relevant field.
Education

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent education in Communications, Human Resources, Marketing, or relevant field.
