Our Young Global Professionals are an integral part of the Business Development and Financial Operations team.

With a growing organization and high demand for our team's assistance, most of our efforts are all-hands-on-deck and we encourage interns to actively engage with events, projects, and strategies.

This position will offer an opportunity to acquire experience and exposure to the logístical elements of event planning, fundraising with corporate, foundation, and public sector partners, think tank operations, prospect research, and relationship management while gaining a broader understanding of international affairs.


The Business Development and Financial Operations team operates across the Council's sixteen programs and centers, offering unparalleled access and unique opportunities to engage with every aspect of our work and mission.

The team works with fellows and staff members to identify funding opportunities, develop proposals, steward key relationships, and secure the financial support necessary to advance the Council's critical mission.


While the Business Development and Financial Operations team stems across different verticals, including the Atlantic Council Finance team, Salesforce operations, and fundraising support for the organization's sixteen programs and centers, this position will primarily work with the fundraising component of the team.


This role is based at our Washington, DC headquarters on a hybrid schedule at a rate of $17.50 per hour.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist with the logístical elements for meetings, roundtables, and highlevel events with internal staff, donors, and the public, including coordinating materials for guests for monthly events.
  • Draft formal correspondence to government officials and invitations for events, briefings for senior leadership, and proposals and stewardship for corporate, foundation, and public sector partners and donors.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings, monthly Atlantic Council meetings, and other internal meetings.
  • Assist with data cleanliness projects as needed.
  • Assist with prospect research, working with the public sector, corporate, and foundation teams to develop prospect lists for the Atlantic Council's 16 Programs and Centers fundraising efforts.
  • Support the public sector, corporate, and foundation teams in all aspects of proposal developments, supporting in the identification of funding opportunities, project managing funding proposals, copyediting, and formatting proposals.
  • Assist with prospect research, working with the Public Sector, Corporate and Foundation teams to develop and qualify a large volume of prospects to sponsor the Council's flagship awards dinners.
  • Support all aspects of the solicitation process, including preparing and proofreading letters, generating mail merges, and tracking responses, contributing to a steady pipeline of sponsor solicitations in support of the Council's Distinguished Leadership Awards dinner.
  • Assist in the planning of the Council's flagship awards dinner in Washington, DC.
  • Assist with regular mailings of acknowledgment letters, renewal notices, and outreach materials.
  • Must be at least a college junior, graduate student, or a recent graduate, preferably majoring in international affairs, public policy, economics, communications, or a relevant field.
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (out of 4.0) scale, or equivalent from a nonUS institution.
  • Must work well with others and interact professionally with senior figures.
  • Excellent research, writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fluid environment with the ability to work well under deadlines and with competing tasks.
  • Ability to work fulltime (40 hrs/week) is preferred.
