GENERAL PURPOSE

  • The Early Childhood Education Academic Director is responsible for providing comprehensive academic counseling, support services, and placement to our MAOF employees in the early childcare field. This role primarily involves assisting employees in transcript review, educational planning, accessing foreign and domestic transcripts, data analysis, and offering inperson and virtual support during occasional evenings and weekends._

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Educational Planning and

Intern Coordination:
Collaborate with students to develop personalized educational plans that align with their academic and career goals. Assisting with internship compliance and works with our external partners.

  • Professional Development: Track professional training hours (must meet 15 hours per year).
  • Professional Education Plan: Plan and assess the professional educational plan and assist with renewing program permits for all levels.
  • Teacher Credentialing: Following the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing will assist staff to obtain or renew the teacher credentials.
  • Multilingual Support: Provide counseling and guidance in multiple languages to cater to the diverse needs of the MAOF staff team.

Person Meetings:

Conduct face-to-face meetings with staff throughout our MAOF service areas during evenings and weekends, offering flexible scheduling options to accommodate their availability.


  • Virtual Support: Conduct remote counseling sessions via Zoom or other online platforms to assist MAOF employees who cannot meet in person.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze student data to identify trends to inform MAOF educational trends, pathway development, and compile relevant reports.
  • Resource Referral: Connect students with relevant campus resources, such as tutoring, financial aid, and career services, including job placement, to enhance their overall academic experience at their campus of choice.
  • Cultural Competency: Foster an inclusive and culturally sensitive environment to support students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and academic progress to ensure compliance with organizational, state, and federal policies and regulations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, or related field (Bachelor?s or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field, preferred).
  • 57 years of experience in academic advising or counseling.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of transcript evaluation and educational planning.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Familiarity with Zoom or other virtual meeting platforms.
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity to the needs of diverse learners.
  • Bilingual Skills: Fluency in Spanish and English is essential for effective communication with community members and educators.
