JOB SUMMARY

Asses the impact of changing the default parameters by comparing the accuracy of edited forecasts to the default forecasts.
Collect data on the types of changes most used by the PA team and determine which of these changes are the most and least impactful.
Provide insights that can be used by the demand forecast monitoring team to further improve forecast for hotels on the new model.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience

Required:

Undergraduate degree in hospitality management or analytical discipline, with coursework exposureto computational techniques
Knowledge and experience coding with Python (pandas / Numpy / SciPy), Java or C/C++, SQL at an advanced level
Software engineering skills (e.g. distributed computing, objectoriented development, data cleansing, algorithms, and data structures)
An inherent curiosity in researching and developing solutions to complex and often openended business problems
Strong communications skills and ability to work within a team
Working knowledge of Data Engineering technologies, tools and platforms
Manage and communicate effectively with internal and external partners, flexing to the audience
Ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, and decide and influence appropriate course of action
Skilled at converting business needs into technology requirements and working within IT to manage the execution of projects
Demonstrated experience performing data analysis activities

Preferred:

Experience performing predictive modeling, forecasting, or statistical analysis on large scale datasets.
Experience with Machine learning tools and techniques (e.g. knearest neighbors, random forests, ensemble methods, etc.)
Experience in developing analytic driven solutions to business problems
Understands complex, discrete data sets with subtle underlying biases
Knowledge of emerging technologies, including those new to the Marriott environment as well as those that are new to the information systems industry
