Duties:


  • Serves as head athletic trainer and assistant professor of physical education in the Department of Physical Education and Athletics at the USMAPS.
  • Develop course materials and teach post high school and college level courses in Physical Education to men and women in the United States Army.
  • Develop and implement the physical training portion for the USMAPS summer training program for injured students.
  • Assist injured students with their personal conditioning and rehabilitation programs.

Conditions of Employment:


  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Incumbent must be a certified athletic trainer in the State of New York and is required to obtain and maintain annual professional certification.

This is a temporary appointment in the Excepted Service not to exceed 12 months.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes 1) coaching athletes in various sports at the high school level or higher; and teaching course in physical education at the high school level or higher.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

D.

or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Chemistry, Physics, Biology or any other related fields appropriate to the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.


SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following factors:2) Ability to teach in a Physical Education program at a four-year college, junior college, or Preparatory School.
3) Mentorship of at-risk youth, social activism, community relations, and mentorship of athletes.
4) Ability to support the personal growth and development of post-high school students from diverse backgrounds through mentorship and extracurricular activities.

Situational telework is sometimes also referred to as episodic, intermittent, unscheduled, or adhoc telework. Situational telework is approved on a casebycase basis, where the hours worked were not part of a previously approved, ongoing, and regular telework schedule.
