Description
Duties:
- You will investigate health concerns within the workplace and determine probable cause.
- You will evaluate and propose new work processes to minimize health hazards.
- You will utilize DoD and Navy regulations regarding occupational health and hazardous materials.
- You will carry out inspections.

Qualifications:
GS-12
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the
GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience planning and carrying industrial hygiene programs.
- Experience developing a variety of control measures to include: ventilation, shielding, material substitution, changes in work procedures, isolation, education, and personal protective devices.
- Experience investigating arising health concerns and determining probable cause within the workplace.
- Experience recommending and evaluating new work processes to minimize health hazards.
- Experience assessing work practices to identify the population at risk.
- Experience maintaining, calibrating, and selecting appropriate equipment to oversee sampling. Experience preparing documentation for personnel medical records.
GS-11
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the
GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience planning and carrying industrial hygiene programs.
- Experience developing a variety of control measures to include: ventilation, shielding, material substitution, changes in work procedures, isolation, education, and personal protective devices.
- Experience investigating arising health concerns and determining probable cause within the workplace.
- Experience recommending and evaluating new work processes to minimize health hazards.

Education:
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM)
Qualifications Standards Manual:
Applicants must possess.
- A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or
- A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene; or
- Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene(external link) (ABIH).
