SUMMARY

The Maintenance Supervisor develops engineering designs, specifications, and cost estimates while preparing written reports, technical specifications, and material specifications for the meat processing industries maintenance program.

This is a working supervisory position that performs, assists, demonstrates jobs on the floor and works with contractors and consultants providing direction and information on specific programs and projects.


CONNECTION TO MISSION

The Maintenance Supervisor tasks maintenance to use innovative thinking for better cost control and reliable machinery to increase production tonnage.

This employee will support all safety programs, policies, and procedures, and have a personal value system that will assist in creating a work environment that is based on trust, human dignity, and honesty which in turn will contribute to a high quality of life for all employees.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform, Assist, Train, Monitor and manage the day-to-day maintenance operations including but not

limited to:
a. Developing goals
b. Coordinating activities with other departments and/or contractors as needed
c. Managing/Performing work orders and Preventative maintenance tasks

d. Inventory Control
e. Reporting as necessary
f. Collecting data, evaluation of program, and making necessary adjustments
g. Ensure policy and procedures are being followed


  • Supervise and train mechanics and support staff
  • Perform project development tasks for facility

This position is a working supervisor that will perform duties on the production floor, assist, demonstrate and trouble shoot issues in the facility, on a daily basis.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises 5 employees in the Maintenance departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, demonstrating, assisting, performing and training employees on both shifts. Conduct planning, assigning, and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university that has been accredited by the Department of Education or Trade School; Three-to-five-year experience in a further processing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.


VERBAL/WRITTEN SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


INFORMATION SYSTEMS SKILLS
Ability to manipulate data efficiently and effectively. Ability to demonstrate excellent research methods. Ability to draw conclusions from data, superior use of computer programs.


REASONING/DECISION MAKING SKILLS
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
