Main Purpose of Job:

The primary role of this full-time position will be to provide ongoing clinical supervision for Family Support Specialists, Family Resource Specialists, and/or Community Health Nurses working in Early Care Programs.

This position will provide intensive home visiting to pregnant women and children up to five years of age through the Healthy Families Garrett County home visiting program.

Program goals include improving birth outcomes, cultivating nurturing parent child relationships, promoting optimal child health and developmental outcomes, promoting family stability, and building foundations for strong family functioning.

This position will also support and supervise staff providing direct services to families.

This is accomplished through the provision of ongoing education and promotion of positive health practices as well as conducting assessments and providing referrals in collaboration with other health professionals and community agencies.

Service provision is geared towards supporting family and children's optimal health, nutrition, safety, and development.

Infant mental health endorsement is preferred, but not required.

Experience with reflective practice is preferred, but not required.

Job Duties are directed toward assuring quality service delivery with home visiting services to include ongoing nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis, and development of a plan of care with families taking into account their unique strengths and needs.

Knowledge of and/or expertise in providing home based services preferred.

In addition, this position will provide support to parents and expectant parents through education and instructing Childbirth/Breastfeeding Classes.

General and reflective supervision sessions will be provided from the Early Care Program Director to promote continued growth with the program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
A Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.

Experience:
One year of experience as a Community Health Nurse.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
