- Demonstrated experimental background and strong publication record in organometallic/inorganic (main group, transition metal or f-element) chemical synthesis and mechanistic studies.
- Experience in preparation and characterization of metal complexes.
- Proven in-depth experience in the handling of air-sensitive compounds, knowledge of NMR spectroscopy and x-Ray crystallography.
- A willingness to work with low-level radioactive natural thorium and depleted uranium materials.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment in a complex shared laboratory space. This includes active interfacing with both experimental and computational colleagues to assimilate research data and publishing.
- Proven strong technical and interpersonal communication and language skills both orally and in writing as evidenced by publications and technical presentations at inter(national) venues.
- Must be highly self-motivated to drive forward the research independently with their own creative ideas, in addition to direction from the mentor's research priorities.
- Demonstrated creative and proactive approach to scientific problem solving. Education: A Ph.D. in chemistry. The candidate must have completed all Ph.D. requirements by commencement of the appointment and be within 5 years of completion of the Ph.D. Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with electrochemistry, electronic absorption and emission spectroscopies, IR and Raman vibrational spectroscopies, and high-resolution gas chromatography.
- Demonstrated experience with surface characterization techniques such as optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and atomic force or scanning probe microscopy, etc.
- Experience in the design, fabrication, and use of gas transfer lines.
- Experience with high pressure experimental operations.
- Experience in synthesizing and studying the reaction chemistry of metal hydrides. Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM.
