    Description

    Award-winning Nightshade Noodle Bar is currently accepting applications for a Sous Chef to join their small and passionate team. From the culinary artistry and vision of Chef Rachel Miller, a finalist for the 2023 Outstanding Chef award by the James Beard Foundation, Nightshade offers eclectic Vietnamese, and French-inspired blind-tasting experiences featuring local and luxury seafood and noodle dishes, chic jungle vibes, unique tropical cocktails, and natural wines to downtown Lynn.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Work side by side with the Chef/Owner to execute a complex and ever-changing tasting menu experience for every guest
    • Ordering
    • Inventory management and maintenance
    • Scheduling
    • Other Administrative duties as required
    • A love of food and strong desire to learn
    • Attention to detail and consistency in cuts, plating, seasoning, etc.
    • Precise Knife Work
    • Knowledge of ingredients being served
    • Maintaining a spotless workspace
    • Maintaining a professional appearance/ positive disposition
    • Quality Control

    Qualifications:

    Ideal candidates have at least 3 years cooking experience in an upscale environment and love to learn and produce an evolving menu with the chef/owner each day. Strong work ethic, positive attitude and passion for hospitality is required. Some management experience is preferred. Professionalism, desire to learn and self-awareness are a must as well. We value longevity and are looking for people to grow with us.

    Skills/ Competencies Required:

    • Serve Safe Certified
    • Allergen Awareness Certified
    • Ability to lift 50lbs of goods, products and/or equipment
    • Attention to detail
    • Organized
    • Sense of urgency
    • Grace under pressure

    Working Conditions:

    This position is full-time, Wednesday through Sunday (we are only open four days per week, but Wednesdays are generally a flexible prep day). To ensure that all of our team members get as much as they give, personal education goals will be discussed, and tailored development will be built into the menu program.
