Sunday 8am -12pm, Monday thru Wednesday 7am-4pm


Starting Pay:
$ $25.00

***: The Community Service Coordinator is responsible for meeting outlined volunteer needs of the Houston Food Bank. Assures that the needs of the workforce are met by utilizing Blue Badge Volunteers (BBV) and other groups and individuals. Works with BBV, Harris County Weekenders, and other special programs. This position will be recruiting, scheduling, data entry, handling correspondence, and recording volunteer service hours. Responsible for ensuring volunteers are trained for their volunteer work. Tracks metrics used to evaluate the effectiveness of the Houston Food Bank's volunteer system and reports metrics to the Data & Policy Analyst. Provides support to the Volunteer Services department by greeting volunteers and providing tours as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Reliable, consistent, attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and taking part in meetings and presentations.
  • Responsible for meeting outlined volunteer needs of the Houston Food Bank.
  • Maintains and grows BBV and other special groups.
  • Coordinates and conducts BBV orientations.
  • Collaborates with and submit reports to court systems and workforce programs to expand and improve programming.
  • Ensures volunteer information is entered in the volunteer database.
  • Ensures volunteers and special groups complete the orientation process and project leaders arready to supervise their volunteers.
  • Ensures volunteer hours are recorded and updated if necessary.
  • Focuses on creating relationships with the Houston Food Bank's volunteers and creating and environment where volunteers give their time and talent to fulfill the mission of the organization.
  • Ensures that volunteers are appreciated for their work at the Houston Foodbank.
  • Orders supplies and keeps track of inventory.
  • Communicates with HFB departments to understand and fill volunteer requests.
  • Works with various Houston Food Bank departments to ensure volunteers have an exceptional experience when they volunteer.
  • Serves as a "volunteer mentor" facilitating motivation through volunteer service.
  • Appreciates volunteers for giving their time and talent to impact hunger in the community.
  • Ensures that all Houston Food Bank volunteers are appreciated for their commitment through service.
  • Tracks metrics used to evaluate the effectiveness of the Houston Food Bank's volunteer system and reports metrics to the Data & Policy Analyst.
  • Ensure visitors, neighbors, volunteers, and donors have an exceptional customer experience when they interface with the Houston Food Bank.
  • Oversees the operations at the Welcome Desk and Information desk at HFB East Branch.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with team members and other Houston Food Bank staff.
  • Ensures staff or volunteers assist individuals to have access to accurate, valid, and complete information.
  • Greets each customer in a pleasant professional manner.
  • Identify customers' needs, clarify information, research every issue, and provide solutions and/or alternatives.
  • Follows up with customers who have been waiting in the lobby area to ensure that they are assisted promptly and appropriately.
  • Provides tours and assists callers
  • Manages inbound calls in a timely manner with friendliness and professionalism.
  • Speaks clearly and distinctly.
  • Engages in active listening of callers to route calls effectively.
  • Takes messages accurately and completely.
  • Assists in other capacities as needed, performing miscellaneous projects as assigned.
  • Ensures that the work area is clean, secure, and wellmaintained.
  • Updates technical skills as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate. Bachelor's degree in social work, Communications, or a related field is preferred
  • 2 years' experience in legal or social administrative support role
