Summary:

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Scribe to support our ophthalmologists in providing efficient patient care.

The role involves accurately documenting medical encounters, transcribing information during exams, and maintaining precise electronic health records (EHR) to ensure a seamless workflow within the ophthalmic practice.


Responsibilities:


  • Accurately document patient history, eye symptoms, and examination findings in electronic health records during ophthalmic appointments.
  • Transcribe ophthalmologists' observations, diagnoses, and treatment plans in realtime during patient encounters.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments, managing phone inquiries, and coordinating patient information.
  • Collaborate closely with ophthalmologists to ensure all pertinent information is accurately recorded and accessible for future reference.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines while handling sensitive patient information.
  • Organize and manage medical records, ensuring completeness and accuracy of documentation.
  • Support ophthalmologists in research, data collection, and other administrative duties as needed.

Requirements:


  • Previous experience as a medical scribe or in a similar role within healthcare, preferably in ophthalmology.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, ophthalmic procedures, and diagnostic codes.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and documenting medical encounters accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent typing skills and ability to transcribe information quickly and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fastpaced clinical setting.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and support staff.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • COA/COT Certification
  • Prior experience with ophthalmic specific EHR systems.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic conditions, treatments, and medications.
