Job Summary
Sam Schwartz, a TYLin company, is currently seeking a full-time Transit Planner for our Chicago office to be part of a dynamic team that provides a range of planning services for public, private, and non-profit clients, including transit network development, corridor studies, strategic planning, and multimodal transportation plans.
This position will be focused on transit planning projects that may include transit service development, comprehensive operations analyses, bus rapid transit planning, corridor studies and tactical mobility lanes, emerging mobility planning, and transit agency strategic plans.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
The selected individual will perform various tasks, such as:
- Planning-level transportation analyses
- Preparation of supportive meeting materials and followup documentation
- Internal coordination
- Meeting facilitation and participation
- Administrative coordination and support
- External stakeholder coordination
- Creating spreadsheetbased models
- Preparing highquality graphics
- Writing technical reports
- Developing presentation materials
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in the transportation planning field is required
- Additional transit experience desired in any of the following additional areas:
- Transit scheduling and operations
- Zeroemission bus technologies and electrical principles
- Bachelors degree in urban planning, transportation engineering, or related field is required; Master's degree is preferred.
- AICP or PE certification is desirable but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively
- Proficiency in using spreadsheets to interpret data and conduct complex analysis
- Experience supporting or managing transit planning projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Flexibility to work onsite and nonstandard business hours occasionally, must be able to travel
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, GIS and, analysis addons; such as Network Analyst and Spatial Analyst
