    Job Description:

    The position focuses on research investigating the interaction between the intestinal microbiota and gamma delta T cells in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients and murine models in Dr.

    Karen Edelblum's lab ) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

    The candidate will lead independent projects to investigate the contribution of specific microbiota in the regulation of gamma delta T cells and potential underlying molecular mechanisms regulating T cell function to identify potential therapeutic opportunities.

    The candidate should have a solid background in microbiota research pertaining to host/microbe interactions. Interested individuals will be encouraged to develop an independent research program and eventually apply for independent grant funding.

    Responsibilities


    • Design and implement research studies
    • Collect and analyze data; perform quality control, interpret, summarize results
    • Master prior literature and place findings in appropriate scientific context. Publish results in peer-review journals.
    • Collaborate with other researchers in the lab to improve the efficiency of research.
    Qualifications


    • PhD in cell biology, microbiology, immunology, or related fields
    • Substantial expertise in microbiome bioinformatics, multi-dimensional flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy
    • Additional skills/areas of expertise that are valued include: gnotobiotics, intestinal biology, T cell biology, mouse husbandry
    • Self-motivated and highly dedicated
    • Effective written and oral communication skills

    Compensation


    The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.

    The salary range for the role is $ $60788 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.

    The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
