Reports to the Director, Diagnostic Imaging.

Assists technologists by transporting patients to the exam and changing rooms, preparing patients for procedures and performing other related duties.

Participates in obtaining patient imaging studies. Assists with maintaining linens and supplies.

Assists the technologist with procedures by:

  • Managing incoming orders, entering patient demographics into computer, assigning appropriate staff to the procedure, and completing appropriate paper or computer work.
  • Participating in obtaining patient imaging studies.
  • Obtaining patient histories, according to established department policies and procedures, as directed.
  • Performing daily warmup procedure on equipment.
  • Transporting patients as needed.

Assists with the maintenance of supplies needed for the smooth operation of the various areas of radiology by:

  • Checking the inventory of supplies and linens.
  • Restocking supplies and linens to an appropriate level when needed.

Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:

  • Greeting patients in a professional, enthusiastic, friendly, caring and sincere manner.
  • Assisting with maintaining Radiology in a general orderly clinical atmosphere and appearance.
  • Completing other jobrelated duties and projects as assigned.

Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:

  • Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
  • Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
  • Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
  • Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
  • Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
  • Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
  • Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
  • Complies with established organization and department policies.
  • Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must be a minimum of 17 years of age. Current students enrolled in a school of radiology program preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Requires the ability to follow department policies and procedures in order to effectively process radiologyrelated images and the PACS system. Also, must demonstrate the ability to understand basic instructions stated in radiologic and medical terms.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate verbally in a clear and effective manner in order to answer patient questions, etc. Must also demonstrate the skills necessary to interact effectively with physicians and their staff.
  • Demonstrates welldeveloped interpersonal skills necessary to interact with clients in a professional, caring, respectful and understanding manner.
  • Demonstrates an interest in healthcare, in general, and scientific/technical knowledge.
  • Requires a strong customer service orientation.
  • Requires ability to use basic office equipment. Good telephone etiquette skills are also required.

Working Conditions

  • Works in a radiological environment with some possible exposure to radiation.
  • Walking or standing most of the time; reaching for and handling film cases.

Physical Demands

  • Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e., lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, twist and reach, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
