Description

Position Context:

The mission of the Reinvent Stockton Foundation is to intentionally invest in and rigorously evaluate collective impact strategies and other force multipliers that will improve quality of life for Stockton residents.

Our flagship program is Stockton Scholars, a college promise program founded in 2018 by Michael Tubbs and dedicated to guiding young people to higher education and an impactful life.

Stockton Scholars has grown to partner with students, families, and the local community to create a clear path through higher education for all Stockton youth.

By providing support, resources, and mentorship to make the college process simple and achievable, we will change lives in Stockton— for young people, their families, and their city.

With an initial donation of $20 million from the Spiegel Family Foundation, Stockton Scholars will provide $1,000 a year to students who will be attending 4-year universities and $500 a year to students attending 2-year colleges or trade schools.

This scholarship is open to all seniors attending a public high school in Stockton through the class of 2028

Work will be performed primarily at the Reinvent Stockton Foundation office located in downtown Stockton.

It will be a hybrid role in nature as some of the work can be done from home but this person should expect to be at various schools and university sites in Stockton and the greater northern CA region.

Reliable transportation is required for frequent travel. Occasional evening or weekend events are required for this role.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop an annual retention plan for current scholarship recipients who are enrolled in higher education. This plan will leverage data and evidencebased practices to enhance student outcomes and academic progress.
  • Identify quarterly priorities, strategic goals, and create action plans that help to enhance student progress to degree completion and/or postgraduate career advancement.

College Ambassadors: Manage and develop College Ambassadors. They are agents of change that amplify their stories in order to create college-going culture in our city. College Ambassadors promote college and career knowledge, community-building, and near-peer support on their school campus.
-
Mentor Program: The Mentor Program connects Scholars with a professional mentor who will walk alongside them on their academic journey for a minimum of 2 academic years. You will manage mentor matching, mentor recruitment, and mentor training.
-
Community Colleges: The Community College Pathway consists of two, in person, on campus group meetings. During the meetings students will gain knowledge on acclimating to community college, how to navigate their academics journey, creating work/life balance, graduation/transfer pathways, CTE options, and campus resources. These are a few of the topics that will be introduced but it is not exhaustive.
-
Summits: You will be the architect of two community based learning experiences where scholars learn from each other, experts, and community leaders. You will get to strengthen and build a network of support to lean on and work with.
- _These pathways are designed for the academic year. They may change based on student needs. This role will always oversee the Attendance Pathways. _
