Clinical Pathology Specimen Triage/Receiving:

Receive and record all clinical pathology specimens into daily receipt log, this includes checking courier
bins for samples. Pre-accession specimens, orders tests, print out labels and attaches to paperwork and
specimen container. Track and deliver samples to designated laboratory departments or prepare samples
for processing. Notifying technologists and appropriate staff of samples that have critical turn-around times
(STAT samples).

Clinical Pathology Problem Documenting and Follow-up:
Any such duties needed to keep the accessioning and processing area running smoothly and performing
the work in an accurate, organized and timely manner. Coordinating special testing, such as, athletic,
molecular and QFT. Monitor courier drop offs and ensure runs are not missed. Monitor expected list to
information is relayed and received in a timely manner. Keep track of issues and communicate with client
services and supervisors when frequent issues occur. Duties include assisting with oversight and daily
processes for the Triage/Accessioning and Processing section. This position will be responsible for
troubleshooting and documenting any issues that come up in the day/evening shift and report directly to
their supervisor (or team lead) any and all issues that arise.


Clinical Pathology Accessioning/ Processing:

Prepare Clinical Pathology laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory
analysis and testing. Unpacks specimens from branches or ports and routes specimens by type to various
staging areas. Prepares all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments or
locations such as staging of specimens, centrifuge, separate serum, and blood smears. Aliquots sample for
departments. Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and resolves and document problem
specimens.


AP Triage/Accessioning:

Receive and document all anatomical pathology laboratory samples. Prepare anatomic pathology
laboratory samples for delivery to designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing.
Prepares excess samples for storage and resolve documentation problems.

Other Duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Expected Salary:

Starting salary is between $ $16.50 per hour


Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Communication skills which will allow the prospective employee to interact with UF physicians, client
- physicians, and other health professionals in a professional manner. Ability to work in a potentially stressful
- environment with infectious and biohazardous materials. Ability to quickly learn various aspects of Lab

  • Operations. Knowledge of Medical terminology. Typing and data entry skills. Strong attention to detail.
  • Previous experience working in a lab or other clinical setting
