Description
The Psychologist Supervisor serves as the clinical director for two residential programs at Terry Children's Center.

There is a crisis program for youth between the ages of 6-17 and a diagnostic program for youth between the ages of The Clinical Director oversees all youth programming provided by clinical staff; leads in decision making for all admissions; provides supervision for clinical staff; provides training in area of expertise; runs clinical meetings; consults with milieu, education, and medical staff; and participates in management and administrative meetings.

The total number of youth Terry Center serves is 16.


Essential Functions:

  • Selects, administers, scores and interprets a wide variety of psychological tests to measure and evaluate intelligence, achievement, personality, interests and other mental characteristics.
  • Interviews and observes individuals at play, in group interactions, or other situations to detect indications of mental deficiency, abnormal behavior, or maladjustment.
  • Communicates with public, private and state agencies, community service organizations, courts, schools, police and families in order to develop effective treatment strategies.
  • Analyzes information to assess individual problems.
  • Evaluates the relevance and importance of psychological theories, concepts and principles.
  • Identifies symptoms, makes diagnoses and develops approach to treatment.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans, evaluates effectiveness and adapts plans.
  • Engages individuals in assisting in the identification of their emotional problems and in the identification of a variety of interventions to assist in addressing these issues.
  • Provides psychotherapy and other various treatments to individuals, groups and/or families.
  • Conducts psychological practice according to the ethical standards of psychology.
  • Writes progress notes and reports regarding test interpretation, evaluation and individual progress.

Job Requirements:


JOB REQUIREMENTS for Psychologist Supervisor**Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
  • Possession of a Delaware Psychologist license or eligibility for a Delaware license.
  • Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.

Additional Job Requirements for Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families

  • At least two years post licensure experience working with children or adolescents.

A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.

As a condition of hire, if the applicant does not possess a Delaware Psychologist license, the applicant must agree as a requirement of employment to obtain a Delaware Psychologist license within 6 months.
