Phoenix Heart's Surgery Scheduler coordinates all inpatient, outpatient and office-based procedures and arranges hospital coverage/rounding schedules. This position requires utilization of clinical knowledge to schedule and authorize appropriate procedures based on the providers' orders. Must have authorization and procedure scheduling experience.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinating authorization and procedure schedules for physicians to ensure hospital procedures are adequately covered while maintaining a good workflow
  • Ensure all consent forms are completed and signed prior to scheduling procedures
  • Inform patients and family members about preop and postop instructions
  • Scheduling of hospital inpatient and outpatient procedures and in office surgical procedures
  • Coordinating and scheduling anesthesia services
  • Authorization of inpatient and outpatient procedures
  • Answering a large volume of incoming calls and directing callers appropriately based on their needs and/or requests
  • Regularly work the Surgery Scheduling Bucket
  • Verifying patient demographic and PCP information and updating as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2 year experience in authorizations and surgery scheduling
  • Ability to solve problems, prioritize and multitask in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to make independent decisions regarding matters of significance
  • Work with little supervision
  • Familiarity with cardiac procedures and tests preferred
  • Able to work in a team environment and interact positively with team members
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in an organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Keenly attentive to detail
  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
  • High level of proficiency with PC based software programs

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant preferred

Pay:
$ $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
