Coastal Endoscopy Center has an immediate need for a full time Pre-Admission Testing Medical Assistant


Job Summary:
The Pre-Admission Testing Assistant is a Medical Assistant who communicates with patients and coordinates patients' surgical appointment needs.

The PAT Assistant will be responsible for previewing charts pre-operatively, making Pre-operative calls, ensure patients' PATs are complete, providing arrival times, obtaining health history's, and other important information needed.

The PAT Assistant must be able to use clinical judgment when directing patient's care based on information the patient shares during the pre-op call.

The PAT Assistant provides safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care coordinating perioperative services for all patient populations. The Pre-Admission Testing Assistant reports to the Clinical Director.

  • Must be reliable, organized, detailed oriented with excellent communication skills
  • Confirms patient surgery appointment with all necessary information to make sure all questions have been answered and information is clear.
  • Reviews surgical packet with patients, while going over all enclosed paperwork and details involved with the surgery.
  • Manage preop forms and paperwork required by physician and surgery center.
  • Consults with nurse managers, anesthesiologists, and surgeons on medical problems, special accommodations, and policies to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Ensure that all preop testing is completed.
  • Accurate documentation of information in patient's chart.
  • Triage calls and questions from patients throughout the process.

Required Skills:


  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program
  • Must have at least 23 years' previous experience as a Medical Assistant preferably in an ambulatory surgical center.
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
  • Must have current BLS
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of history and physicals
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patients' needs when needed
  • Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians.
