    **Description**

    The Denver Hospice has an immediate opening for a Cook at the Inpatient Care Center.

    **Location:** Denver, CO

    **Status:** Full-Time

    **Schedule:** Monday - Friday

    **Hourly Pay Range**: $ $21.29

    **As an organization, new hires for this role are typically starting no higher than the midpoint of $18.53 per hour.** New hires are placed into a salary grade based on education, experience and equity within a position. Please note that compensation ranges are intended to be a good faith estimate of a likely hiring range for this position.

    ****POSITION SUMMARY:****

    Coordinates and prepares quality food for patients.

    ****KEY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:****

    Reports to the Facilities Manager

    ****ESSENTIAL DUTIES:****

    Maintains accurate records of refrigerator/freezer temperatures and sanitation log.

    Prepares nutritious and appealing meals to patients at the hospice facility, utilizing the principles of diet modification or restriction as needed, in consultation with the RD, nursing staff, patients and families about specific needs and special requests.

    Organizes, prioritizes and coordinates all food preparation to meet production, distribution, and service demands for patients within established departmental guidelines.

    Follows Food Service policies and procedures established by The Denver Hospice.

    Stocks and maintains cleanliness of Family Kitchen/Dining area.

    Maintains clean and sanitary food preparation area.

    Monitors appliances and kitchen equipment for maintenance and/or replacement needs.

    Adheres to food storage requirements including pantry, freezers, and refrigerator items.

    Participates in quarterly kitchen inspections and safety training as required.

    Follows deep cleaning schedule for kitchen.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Possesses knowledge of appropriate diets and extensions.

    Follows sanitation procedures and uses proper food storage and rotation practices.

    Utilizes critical thinking skills and makes sound decisions.

    Displays safety knowledge in regards to proper use of kitchen equipment.

    Possesses ability to communicate with nursing staff, Clinical Manager and other staff regarding observations/needs of patients and families.

    Possesses a high degree of personal cleanliness and good hygiene, status of health suitable for food service required.

    ****POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:****

    Minimum Education: High school diploma

    Minimum Experience: One year cooking experienceRequired Certification: Must possess or obtain the Serv-Safe Certification within one month of employment**.**
