    APS Technology is searching for an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager.

    Reporting to the VP of Electrical Engineering, the Electrical Engineering Manager will lead the Electrical Engineering department, participate as a member of the Senior Management team providing input on the needs of the Electrical Engineering department, manage and actively contribute to the engineering, design, prototyping, and production build of assigned project(s), achieving desired results safely, on time, and within budget.

    The Electrical Engineering Manager will direct the department activities to keep in line with the corporate goals and objectives.

    Other responsibilities include ensuring all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with APS' established policies and objectives, conceptualize and plan the development of complex electrical and electronics equipment for harsh environments making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities, manage key electrical engineering focused projects including those involving the integration of APS sensors with third party MWD/LWD platforms and participate as an active hands-on individual contributor to those projects, manage department budgets, project budgets, and manpower.

    Present project and development summaries and progress reports to Executive. Management.

    The Electrical Engineering Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that staffing is appropriate, and that the Company's electrical engineers are properly trained to meet project development and product support requirements, secure and assign electrical engineering resources to ensure that project tasks are accomplished on an agreed upon schedule, and with regard to existing budget constraints.

    For this position, the right candidate will have experience with day-to-day management of the activities of all department electrical engineers and technicians s week as be able to work effectively with all other departments within the company, including outside contractors and suppliers.

    In this position, you will contribute hands-on involvement in the design, building and testing of new products, and the commercial release of all products, initiate and conduct design reviews, and write and publish meeting minutes.

    You will also provide mentoring for the electrical engineering staff and technical support to APS product line and operations management, APS worldwide facilities, and end customers.

    You will be actively participating in failure review analysis to help assess performance of product and identify areas that need improvement and develop recommendations for improvements to new and existing products that will enhance service, improve life, reliability, and/or reduce cost.

    Travel as required, both domestically and internationally, to APS and customer facilities to assist with product support and new product

    development/commercialization.
    We are searching for a candidate who holds a BS/MS in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of at least 10 years working as a hands-on

    electrical/electronics


    design engineer, plus 5-10 years of experience in an engineering management role ,with the ability to act as an individual contributor in the development of electronics systems for use in downhole tools for APS products, as well as the integration of APS products with other manufacturers downhole tools.

    Ideally, experience with MWD, LWD, and Rotary Steerable tools for the domestic and international oilfield services market is a plus.

    Additionally, you will be required to lead, define, and evaluate designs for electronics system modules and printed circuit boards, have a strong background in electronics design including analog and digital circuit design, microcontrollers, data acquisition, power supply, and communications interfaces.

    Must possess a strong background in instrumentation design including electro-mechanical assemblies, motor control, and sensor technology.

    The ideal candidate must have very strong communications skills; ability to interface effectively with all employees and with customers at all levels, and with those using or maintaining company products in the field, must demonstrate inventive, have a creative approach to problem solving with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects tasks with minimal supervision.

    Other desired skills include experience in developing and tracking multiple project schedules and communicating project status. Strong background in components selection, circuit analysis, circuit board layout and design, and electrical & mechanical assembly.

    Ability to establish electrical engineering specifications and standards and identify critical design risks, and experience with EMC and safety requirements to meet UL, CE, and hazardous location certifications.

    You must have a thorough understanding of software engineering as it relates to embedded, real-time firmware for data acquisition and control, as well as GUI and applications software and be able to perform all calculations and estimations, as well as conducting or guiding others undertaking laboratory tests, required to verify the soundness and suitability of the design.

    Other items of necessity include ensuring that drawings, specifications, and procedures are complete, current, and appropriate for their purpose, and are released to other departments in a timely and orderly manner, you must be proficient with electronics CAD simulation and design packages, direct experience with the ORCAD suite of design tools is preferred and have experience with managing PCB design and layout, as well as PCB assembly.
